Birdsong – Roger Mugisha

To my lost soul and humour,

To the person I was before drowning,

I am here all alone like a sloth in a cecropia tree,

But I wish I could meet you in person again and

Counsel my soul to never love again!

My boulder became quicksand and sucked,

But I will give back all the promises to myself.

Even though I can never meet my soul again,

I’ll tell the whole world this mendacious love you gave!

When I stare at the floating cloud the way I used to,

The red rain says you’ll never look back.

Yesterday, we were penguins but we are cats today,

You drained and shattered my heart,

I swear, it won’t be mended again!

I neither died nor lived.

The world knew my love but ignored my sorrow,

My dreams ease the bitterness a bit,

But when I wake up with you nowhere,

Nobody else cares except the matinal birds!

Gorgeous 🧘
I loved it so much
1st stanza whispered me “do you have an idea of what’s next?”
And last one told me “that’s it, thank you”

This is nice 🤌
