She wakes to days of great distress,
A heap of feelings she won’t confess.
As the sun climbs the high sky,
So does a life that makes her cry.
She wears her outfit, starts to run,
Miles and miles, beneath the sun.
Her legs can’t outrun her pain,
The miles wave at her, all in vain.
She builds herself, disciplines her frame,
To be the version she longs to tame.
No weight she lifts outweighs her pain,
Her sweat and tears, like falling rain.
Her mind rebels refuses to obey,
Happiness decays, day by day.
Longing to leave without delay,
Yet strong enough, she’s meant to stay.
If only she knew her precious worth
Beyond the mirror of self-repulse,
She’d never worry about a thing,
Unfazed by what her life may bring.
For she’s a diamond lost in the mud,
Greatness ingrained within her blood.
All she ever lost, all she ever had,
Only made her stronger than just sad.
Her way she’ll find, by thunder by fire.
