A Poet’s Folly | Armella Saro & Olabell

‘A Poet’s Folly’ was voted by members of WSA-R community as Literary Work of the Week (August 26–September 1, 2024).

All hackles raised, she dived in headfirst.

Pledges are meant to cage one’s soul
Ordained by the words of a mad maiden.
Even when they fall out of her sweet lips
T is like a baby’s coos, soothing yet elusive.
She falls and writes, he reads and nods

Faced with her tumultuous gaze untamed.
Only an abyss graces him, he wavers.
Longing she is, out of reach he seems
Lost only is the boy that flees his home
Yet she weaves a lulling song for him, on and on.
