It Is Your Fault, My Heart | Julienne Niwemuhoza

It is your fault, my heart!
You saw the signs, the warning lights—
Yet still, you yearned.
You reached for dreams wrapped in fog,
Tried every path, but none were truly yours.
You felt a flicker of hope,
But the rain never stopped.
You waited for the sun—
It never came.

You chose blindness when truth burned bright,
Held tight to a stone,
Expecting warmth from its cold embrace.
Blame yourself for pretending not to see—
What more were you waiting for?
A sunrise on a cloudy day?
They stuffed you with illusions,
And you fed yourself lies.

You believed he held all the keys,
But he used you and walked away,
Leaving only pieces—
A broken mirror
Reflecting truths you were too soft to face.

Open your eyes now, my heart.
Guard love like a lioness defends her pride.
It is your fault, my heart—
But your innocence lost,
Is a price he will pay.
