The Forbidden Fruit | Eric Jovial Hirwa

The heart is always pushing me to picking you,
And your ripeness holds it captive.
Your succulence is bewitching,
But the mind can’t stop saying
“Beware! Beware!”

Their unceasing duel
Torments me still.
These back-and-forth thoughts
Bewilder my innocent soul,
Only yielding to a terrible heartache
And a deep feeling of despair.

Should I succumb to the temptations of the heart
Or listen to reason for once?
All I know is that I crave you,
I want to taste you, forbidden fruit!
